New PAN Card Apply Online
One can apply for a new PAN as well as correction/ change in existing PAN online through NSDL website. This can be done offline to by applying at any of the district level PAN agencies. For application of new PAN, form 49A needs to be filled and submitted. Along with this, there are ways to obtain duplicate PAN card in case if one has lost/ misplaced/ mutilated the existing PAN card. Foreigners and NRIs can also obtain PAN card, however the procedure and documents required may vary for them.
There are different application forms for new issuance and reprint of PAN card. One can track the status of his/ her PAN card application through the acknowledgement number provided at the time of registration. PAN card application can be submitted online through NSDL (National Securities Depository Limited) as well as UTIISL (UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited), both online or offline.
Online PAN card application process:
Visit NSDL/ UTIISL website and select the 'new PAN' option
For Indian citizens (including NRE/NRI/OCI individuals), select form 49A
Fill in the details in the online application form
Submit form and pay the fees
Print the page with acknowledgement number (15 digit) and sign in the provided space
Affix photograph in the space provided in the acknowledgement, attach proof of identity and address along with the DD (if didn't pay online) and send it to the NSDL office by post within 15 days of submitting the application online
PAN card will be sent to your address within 15 days of receipt of the form
Offline PAN Card application process
Download the PAN card application from the NSDL/ UTIISL website or alternatively collect a copy from UTIISL agents
Fill the form and attach required documents and send them to the NSDL office along with the processing fee
The PAN card will be sent to your address shortly
