Aadhaar Card Application Process

You can book an online appointment to apply for Aadhaar Card at one of the ASKs (aadhaar seva kendras). ASKs help applicants from adjoining areas to avail services such as aadhaar enrolment and update/correction. The process is done in a secure manner. Apart from booking an appointment online for application of Aadhaar, you can book an appointment to update your name, mobile number, address, date of birth, email address, gender, and biometric (fingerprint + photo + iris) information.

Aadhaar Seva Kendras are open for 6 days in a week. The centres may also work on weekends. The work timings are 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. The Kendras are closed on public holidays and Tuesdays. The ASKs offer electronic token system for a hassle-free process. You can take an advance online appointment for Aadhaar application and visit the centre at own convenience.

Requirements to Book Appointment for Aadhaar Enrolment Online

You need to have a mobile number for the Aadhaar Card application process. This mobile number may or may not be at present registered with an Aadhaar Card. Also, you need relevant and valid documents to book the appointment. You do not have to pay anything for a new enrolment. If you wish to update Aadhaar details, only then you will have to pay a minimal fee at the ASK.

How to Book Online Appointment for Aadhaar Application?

Several post offices, banks, state government offices, and BSNL customer centres function as ASKs. You can get the enrolment form either online or at an ASK. You can find out the nearest enrolment centre online for Aadhaar Card application process:

  • Find the Aadhaar enrolment centres in Tier 1 cities.
  • Find the enrolment centres in other cities.
  • Select the name of the centre. Click ‘Proceed’ to book the appointment.
  • Select ‘New Aadhaar’ for a fresh application for the document.
  • Enter your mobile number. Now, enter the Captcha. Click ‘Submit’.
  • You will receive an OTP o the mobile number you provided, which you have to enter at the relevant field.
  • After successful authentication of the mobile number, you have to fill the Aadhaar enrolment form and submit it.
  • Visit the ‘Manage appointment’ tab to manage appointment details such as the date and time.

Documents to Apply for an Aadhaar Card

To apply for Aadhaar Card, you need to submit a government-recognized proof of identity, proof of address, and proof of date of birth. If you are providing documents for someone else’s application, then you need a proof of relationship with the applicant. Below-given are some of the accepted forms of proofs:

Proof of Identity

Any one of the following:

  • PAN card
  • NREGS job card
  • Voter ID
  • Arms license
  • Passport
  • ECHS/CGHS photo card
  • Address card with photograph and name issued by the Department of Posts
  • Government photo ID cards
  • Identity certificate on a letterhead with photo issued by gazetted officer or Tehsildar
  • Ration card
  • Photo bank ATM card
  • Driving license
  • Freedom fighter photo card
  • Photo credit card
  • Pensioner photo card
  • Disability ID card or handicapped medical certificate

Date of Birth Proof

Any one of the following:

  • Birth certificate
  • SSC certificate

  • Mark sheet issued by a Government board or university

  • Certificate of birth date issued on a letterhead by a group of gazetted officer

Proof of Relationship

Any one of the following:

  • CGHS/ ECHS/ State Government/ESIC medical card
  • Passport
  • PDS card
  • Pension card
  • Job card of MNREGA
  • Government-issues marriage certificate
  • Canteen card of the army
  • Government issued family entitlement document
  • Birth certificate provided by Municipal Corporation, Registrar of Birth, or local government

Details to Fill in the Aadhaar Card Enrolment Form

The enrolment form is of two pages. The same form is valid for correcting and updating Aadhaar details as well. The first page asks for personal details. The second page has instructions that you must follow to fill up the form. This document has 11 fields that you have to fill before submission. Not all the fields are to be filled mandatorily. You need to fill the form in capital letters/uppercase letters only and write legibly. Below-mentioned are the fields in the form that you should fill.

  • NPR Receipt/TIN Number
  • Full Name
  • Gender
  • Age of Date of Birth
  • Address
  • Details of Family Members
  • Consent (allowing of denying UIDAI permission to share the information you submit with agencies that deliver welfare and public services. You need to select the ‘tick’ or ‘x’ sign accordingly)
  • Bank account
  • Documents provided
  • Introducer/Head of Family (in case you do not have proof of address or identity of own)
  • Signature (you have to sign the document, provide name or thumbprint for validation)

Complete the Aadhaar Enrolment at the ASK on the Appointment Day

On the day of appointment, you have to visit the selected ASK. The Aadhaar Seva Kendra has a token system.

  • Here, you get a token for the work related to Aadhaar. After which, your documents are taken for verification.
  • The staff at the centre will also take your biometric information such as a spot photograph, iris scan of both the eyes, and fingerprints of all the ten fingers.
  • The biometric details will be added to the Aadhaar database. After verification, you have to proceed to the cash counter in case of Aadhaar update. Otherwise, you move to the operator counter for further process.
  • The token movement is captured on a digital display screen so that there are no confusions and long queues. You will receive an acknowledgement slip at the end of the process. The slip will contain details such as your photograph, date and time of enrolment, etc. You need to keep the acknowledgement slip safely to check your aadhaar card status online whenever you want.
